The Moore Family at the Governor's Mansion

On March 15, the Moore family was given the honor of being guests at the Governor's Mansion in order to share their adoption story.  Mrs. Bentley introduced Kerri and shared that she and Governor Bentley have two adopted children as well.  Mrs. Bentley hopes to draw more attention to children in Alabama who need a loving and permanent family.  I couldn't help thinking of God's perfect timing:  churches throughout Alabama are taking God's Word seriously about caring for orphans at the same time our First Lady is working toward making adoption of foster children a priority in our State.

Kerri does an incredible job in sharing their story.  She was also approached with the possibility of sharing their story with a wider audience.  It is exciting to think how God will use the Moores as advocates for adoption throughout the State of Alabama.

Thank you Mike and Kerri for seeking God, listening to God and obeying God!

March Updates!

Last month was the 15th birthday of Madi Cornett.  Instead of gifts for herself, Madi decided to have friends bring items for the children at Children's Hope, Jacmel.  Madi collected puzzles, games, costumes, and other items for the children; two large boxes in all.  Below is a group picture of friends present at the party who contributed the items.  In a world where consumerism is alive and well, Madi is a good example of how to make a positive change.  Thank you Madi and hopefully, many others will follow suit.

Thanks to Mike Moore, Children's Hope now has an account on youtube.  There are a number of videos about Children's Hope at this site, so just click here   www.youtube.com/user/childrenshopefbc .

An update on Trent and Heather Beck's adoption.  On March 13, Sellenn Rose legally became their daughter!!!  They should make their second trip to Bulgaria in just a few weeks to bring her home.

Finally, please remember that we are the drop off location for the towel/swimsuit drive for foster children in Alabama.  The Big House Foundation is sponsoring this.  There are boxes by the Preschool Check-In desk and the receptionist desk at the Scott Street Entrance.  Please tell your Sunday School class, other churches,  and friends about the drive.

Colee Court!

Chip Colee, Music Minister at FBC Mtg., was born on leap year and technically has only had 11 birthdays!!! His family wants to make sure that every leap year birthday is something special.
This year, Christy (Chip's wife) wanted to link Chip's Birthday to Children's Hope. Since Chip is a big sports fan, she decided to ask choir members to give towards a basketball court and goal for the kids at Children's Hope in Jacmel, Haiti. And give they did! Chip was presented with this gift at choir last night along with a piece of marble (left over from the construction of FBC sanctuary)
with this inscription: Colee Court, FBC Sanctuary Choir, Montgomery 2012. Chip is all about missions, so this was a great gift for him. The piece of marble will be incorporated into the basketball court. On behalf of Children's Hope, thank you Christy, Donna Haney and all of the choir members! Plans are being made to pour a concrete court and install a basketball goal on Children's Hope land in Jacmel for the kids to enjoy for many years to come. That basketball court will see a lot of action in the years to come!
